LAUVE WELLBEING LEADERSHIP SCALE (LWLS)
The Lauve Wellbeing Leadership Scale (LWLS) is a rubric-based instrument designed to assess the quality of community leadership through the lens of Lauve Wellbeing — a framework grounded in the integrated, holistic dimensions of human flourishing as advanced by Lynch (2016, 2022, 2024, 2026). The LWLS comprises seven theoretically derived domains — Values Leadership; Community Building and Belonging; Metacognition and Reflective Leadership; Social-Emotional Intelligence; Physical and Holistic Wellbeing Advocacy; Purposeful and Spiritual Leadership; and Transformative Partnership and Sustainable Governance — encompassing 22 indicators across sporting, political, civic, and institutional leadership contexts. Each indicator is rated on a four-point developmental continuum (1 = Surface-Level to 4 = Deep-Transformative), yielding a raw score between 22 and 88; the LWLS percentage is calculated as (Raw Score ÷ 88) × 100, locating leaders within one of four profiles: Surface-Level Leader (0–25%), Developing Leader (26–50%), Implementing Leader (51–75%), or Deep-Transformative Leader (76–100%). Designed for application across community organisations, schools, universities, and governing bodies, the LWLS provides practitioners, evaluators, and researchers with a structured, evidence-informed tool for diagnosing leadership capacity, guiding professional development, and advancing scholarly inquiry into wellbeing-centred leadership.
